    Your role

     

    The Cross-Platform Reporter Program (CRP) recruits the top graduates from university journalism and communications programs across the country.

     

    The CRP is a temporary assignment comprising six (6) weeks of in-class theory instruction, to be provided virtually at your host station, followed by a nine (9) week practicum in one of Radio-Canada’s regional stations, from Moncton to Vancouver.

    Selected interns will receive the following:

    In-class theory instruction (six weeks: May 14-June 26, 2026):

    The six-week curriculum includes modules on Journalistic Standards and Practices; writing for radio and television; digital editing and publishing; MediaCentral, Dalet and iNews software; live TV/video and/or audio; iPhone reporting; and grammar and style.

    Temporary employment (nine weeks: June 29-August 28, 2026):

    You will be paired with a single Radio-Canada station for the duration of the program. The six (6) weeks of in-class theory instruction will take place at that station, as will the period of employment. Intern reporters will gradually transition to independent assignments, allowing them to apply their training in real-world settings.

     

    To be a successful candidate, you must have a keen interest in news and current affairs, a strong sense of initiative, creativity and, most of all, a burning desire to tell great stories. You must embrace the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful workplace. You must also be mobile and willing to work in your assigned region. All participants will receive compensation during the 15-week program.

    + Letter of interest: Answer the question, “Why do you want to take part in the CRP and how does it fit into your career path?

    + We recommend providing links to content that you have produced over the past year. Content can include written articles and/or audio/video material.

     

    This CPP stems from an initiative to hire candidates who will bring not only diverse skills and perspectives but also diverse professional and personal experience to CBC/Radio-Canada to enrich our content and reflect contemporary Canada.

    What you bring:

    Qualifications:

    + Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field

    + **Candidates who are not Canadian citizens or landed immigrants must have a valid work visa at the time of their application**

    + **Mobility is mandatory for those selected to be able to work on a temporary position in one of the following Radio-Canada’s regional stations: Toronto, Vancouver, Matane, Moncton, Sept-Îles, Regina, Winnipeg, Sherbrooke, Edmonton, Trois-Rivières, Sudbury**

    Skills:

    + Knowledge of Canadian and world news

    + Solid command of spoken and written French and good knowledge of spoken and written English

    + Knowledge of and presence on social media

    + Initiative to generate and chase stories

    + Interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills

    + Ability to plan, organize and co-ordinate your day-to-day work so as to meet tight deadlines

    + Ability to travel and work flexible hours

    + Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada platforms and programming is an asset

    Shortlisted candidates will be tested as follows:

    + Language test (English and French)

    + Editorial tests

    + Interview

     

    Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
