Job Description
The Iowa Judicial Branch, in the Sixth Judicial District seeks applicants for a Judicial Operations Supervisor to oversee clerk operations in Tama, Benton, and Iowa County Clerk of Court offices, in collaboration with the Clerk of Court.
This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of the clerk of court offices in each county. This position will manage the workload and priorities for clerk of court staff in all three counties to provide support for court proceedings and cases with accurate record keeping in accordance with Iowa Court Rules, the Clerks Manual, and Iowa Code. This position will ensure accurate and efficient court case processing and oversee the integrity of the court records.
The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, time management skills, and sharp attention to detail. This position will be able to communicate in person and on the phone with a variety of court users, including judicial officers, attorneys, clients, agencies, and the general public. The successful candidate will be able to de-escalate sensitive situations and problem-solve. This person will be able to maintain confidential and sensitive information. Travel within this group of counties and the district will be required.

The pay range for this position is $58,219.20 - $92,040.00 annually. This is an FLSA-exempt position. The starting salary for new state employees is expected to be at the base of the pay range. Adjustments may be made if the successful candidate has relevant experience.
Position classification is determined as the ‘best fit’ of the duties assigned to and performed by a position. This position is classified as a Judicial Operations Supervisor as summarized below.
Summary
Supervise efficient judicial operations, including managing resources, scheduling, and workload of employees engaged in supporting judicial operations.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
+ Supervise and evaluate the work of subordinates; enforce personnel policies and procedures such as training and coaching employees; manage work schedules, time-offs, and leaves; conduct performance evaluations; and follow disciplinary and grievance procedures.
+ Assist the Clerk of District Court in carrying out the responsibilities per Iowa Code.
+ Oversee daily operations and workload, establish priorities, and develop standards and deadlines.
+ Perform office management duties and effective resource management.
+ Oversee bookkeeping and accounting transactions and audits. Prepare financial reports and support audit activities.
+ Examine court documents, orders, rulings, files, and related material for completeness and accuracy. Detect backlogs in document processing and implement effective solutions.
Oversee court attendant services, jury management, administration, and courtroom preparation services.
Oversee case scheduling and courtroom preparations.
+ Provide judicial officer assistance in the preparation of orders, rulings, memoranda, correspondence, etc., as needed.
+ Develop, implement, and monitor guidelines, procedures, training, and feedback on efficient judicial operations.
+ Provide customer service by responding to inquiries from the general public, attorneys, judicial officers, and court employees.
+ Coach team members through challenging customer service issues, anticipate escalation, and take over customer service when needed.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Knowledge and understanding of court operations and case flow management.
+ Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes in policies, procedures directives, and amendments to laws and rules.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
The incumbent must meet the minimum requirements to qualify for the position.
+ High school diploma (or high school equivalency diploma)
+ Four (4) years of professional office experience in business, government, legal, or closely related experience.
+ Two (2) years of experience in customer service.
Education cannot be substituted for customer service experience.
Experience may be substituted with related education on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of experience.

+ Experience with court or legal process or terminology.
+ Professional supervisor experience.
+ Experience with change management.
+ Experience with Microsoft Office and learning proprietary software.
