    The UPMC Vision Institute in Bethel Park is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our outpatient team at 1300 Oxford Drive, Suite 1100, Bethel Park, PA. In this role, you will support patient care by performing teching duties, assisting with diagnostic testing, and helping with injections. The position offers a Monday-Friday daylight schedule with no evenings or weekends and requires approximately 20% travel to other locations.     Responsibilities:

    + History taking to include ocular, medical, medication, social and family. Visual acuity assessment: with and without correction, distance, near and intermediate, pinhole, best corrected, potential acuity, brightness acuity Lensometry: automated and manual Pupillary assessment: measurement, compare and evaluate. Visual fields: Amsler grid & confrontation fields Ocular Motility: Knowledge of the functions & anomalies, cover tests, stereo-acuity, nystagmus Refractometry: auto-refractor, transposing scripts from + to -

    + Tonometry: ICare, Tonopen and the care and proper disinfection of each.Supplemental skills: Color testing, glare testAngle assessment & dilation of pupils.Contact lenses: insertion, removal, and instructions.Assist with maintaining office inventory, notifying appropriate staff when supplies are needed, restocking exam rooms, cleaning and sterilizing of instruments and cleaning patient exam rooms at end of day.Travel to other clinical sites.

    + High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    + Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in an Ophthalmology office or combination of related education and/or experience preferred.

    + Completion of AAO Home Study Course is preferred.

    + Prior optometric or ophthalmic experience preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Valid CPR certification

    + Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

    + Act 34
