    Quality Engineer

    Position Overview

    Position Objective:

    Statistically monitors quality, implements improvements and trouble shoots processes and equipment for the Color C ompounding and Turf Extrusion Departments. The Process Engineer will participate in activities that foster continuous improvement and the investigation of off quality performance. The Process Engineer will also utilize Six Sigma tools to bring about improvement.

    Responsibilities:

    + P articipate in Internal SMS Audits

    + Participate in External SMS Audits

    + Work with all Departments to reduce Nonconforming Product

    + Work with yarn vendors and equipment suppliers to ensure products meet specifications .

    + Work with yarn customers to resolve off quality issue s.

    + Coach Trainers/QCs/Mentors using quality data to drive improvement .

    + Improve Standard Work focusing on Safety, Quality and Productivity

    + Drive root cause analysis and preventive measures for Off Quality

    + Participates in customer feedback and customer visits .

    + Works with Maintenance and lab associates to maintain lab equipment (calibratio ns)

    + Serve as a backup to the Quality Manager.

    + Participates in SPC activities as a user of Infinity software and Minitab .

    + Modifies and develop procedures in SM S ( AoDocs ).

    + Complies with procedures found in the Shaw Management System (SMS).

    + Attend SPC, Tier V I, Turf Tape Line/Quality and any additional meetings as requested

    + Assist QIT m eetings as requested

    + Track and monitor all Corrective Actions within the Facility

    + Work with Yarn Technical to evaluate new/existing yarn systems

    + Reviews , and Monitors I-Color/Infinity Data in the department (Color Compounding/Turf)

    + Assist the Quality Manager, as needed

    Requirements :

    + Four (4) year Engineering degree

    + Strong communication skills (written and oral)

    + Six Sigma Black Belt trained or willingness to complete training

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint , Pivot Tables etc )

    + Previous manufacturing experience (preferred)

    Work Shift

    8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
