Job Description
We are supporting a large state agency in hiring an Architect II to support a large-scale ADA compliance initiative across Texas’ 78 public rest areas. This position will serve as the single point of contact responsible for turning ADA assessment findings into actionable scope documents and contractor-ready design packages. You will work closely with two senior Architect Vs and collaborate with a team known for being communicative, friendly, and highly collaborative.
This role is ideal for someone who can step in with minimal training, take ownership quickly, and drive a high-volume compliance program forward.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review ADA assessment reports (300+ pages each) completed by the Civil Rights Division for 78 statewide rest areas.
- Perform site visits (10–15% travel) to validate findings and confirm what requires corrective action.
- Build structured tracking spreadsheets
- Prepare contract documents that contractors will use to execute ADA-related fixes.
- Coordinate with internal architects and leadership to drive each rest area from assessment → scope → design → execution.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support repair projects for existing TxDOT facilities as needed.
- Assist in design tasks for new safety-related facilities.
- Contribute to a team culture built on communication, collaboration, and confidence.

Skills and Requirements
- 2–5+ years of architectural experience (commercial preferred; residential acceptable).
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit — must be able to produce work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal onboarding.
- Strong communication skills; comfortable asking questions, offering insights, and working collaboratively. - ADA project experience or working knowledge of ADA standards.
- Experience in compliance-driven architecture, assessment reviews, or scope development.
- Confident, strong communicator who can take ownership of a complex workload.
- Commercial project background.
