    Waste Connections (Avenal, CA)


    Avenal Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a **Laborer / Tipper Operator** to join our team in Avenal, CA! This is a full time, long term position with a reputable company.

     

    The schedule will be Monday-Friday 5am-2pm and is subject to change.

     

    The pay rate for this position is fixed at $22/hour.

    Responsibilities Include:

    + Operate landfill tipper

    + Maintain cleanliness of tipper cab and surrounding area - shoveling and sweeping

    + Litter picking

    + Spotting/directing trucks

    + Tracking weather patterns to be able to set up fencing and wind screens

    + Traffic management - moving signs and cones

    + Ensuring that all customers are wearing proper PPE

    + Cleaning Equipment

    + General site cleanup and landscaping

    + Performing other assigned duties at the landfill as needed

    Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

    + Work involves constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises

    + Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.

    + Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

    + Ability to safely climb on and off of heavy equipment in order to operate, clean and inspect.

    Requirements:

    + At least 2 years of work experience. Preferably in a labor type position

    + The ability to lift up to 75 pounds

    + Experience operating equipment is a plus

    + Ability to work in all weather conditions throughout entire shift

    + Mechanical ability is a plus.
