This posting will be used two fill two (2) vacancies. One position is located at Golden Valley and the other position is located at Oakdale. Please list your location preference on your application materials.
These positions will assist the MnDOT Metro District Oakdale Plant Maintenance Engineer and the MnDOT Metro District Golden Valley Plant Maintenance Engineer in performing skilled operation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, equipment and other mechanical systems. Assist the Plant Maintenance Engineer in performing building construction maintenance and repair, and grounds maintenance as required. Additionally, this position will assist the plumber and electrician as necessary so that services are provided in a safe and efficient manner.
NOTE TO APPLICANTS: The incumbent in this position is required to be immediately accessible to a phone and be able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called.

Minimum Qualifications
• Experience operating and maintaining heating, plumbing, ventilation and electrical systems and auxiliary appliances.
• Skill in the use of hand tools of the trade sufficient to make adjustments and simple repairs to equipment and assist in the making of major repairs and alterations.
• Experience with building and grounds maintenance and construction practices.
• Valid Class D Driver's License.
If advanced to the finalist pool, you will be assessed on the following criteria during a job interview:
• Knowledge of safety and accident prevention measures and practices.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to accurately relay concerns and problems incurred with equipment to service contractors and supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of building energy management systems; safety and environmental regulations; and State and Federal OSHA rules and regulations; and ability to order job materials and purchase parts.
• Considerable knowledge of standard HVAC practices and be familiar with State Plumbing and Electrical Codes.
• Experience with reading and working from blueprints, plans and specifications.
• Boiler Special Engineer License, and Boiler 2nd Class C Engineer License or higher with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
