    Description

SAIC is seeking a **Space Protection Model Based Systems Architect** to join the Space and Intelligence Business Group to provide systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer. The customer is developing the next generation of space and ground systems, architectures, and hardware and software solutions.

The **Space Protection Model Based Systems Architect** will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and System Program Office (SPO) representative to design/manage complex systems and provide technical advisory services using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to support the deployment of new protection capabilities into space operations. The **Space Protection Model Based Systems Architect** coordinates with the Space enterprise, SPO mission-related SMEs, the development contractor, and other stakeholders (including end user operators) and uses digital models to design, analyze, and manage a complex Space Domain Awareness (SDA) ground system throughout its lifecycle. The position also identifies space protection capability objectives, derives associated technical specifications, initiates and tracks future functional requirements, and evaluates potential solutions to inform the SPO’s future acquisition efforts.

The **Space Protection Model Based Systems Architect** responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Serve as the SPO technical lead coordinating with mission area SMEs to develop and maintain comprehensive system architectures, data models, and process workflows to define and document space protection mission threads and use cases in support of software development to advance the nation’s space resiliency posture.

    • Develop and model space protection system structures capturing specifications, defining system behaviors, detailing software and interfaces, and planning for verification and validation.

    • Principal reviewer of MBSE contract deliverables from Prime software developer.

    • Synchronize with stakeholders and lead architecture excursions to satisfy changing enterprise needs, offer technical evaluations of those options to Government POCs, and support the SPO in the system planning to acquire future space protection capabilities to deploy to ground processing systems.

    • Perform systems-of-systems analysis and trade studies to determine optimal design solutions.

    • Apply MBSE strategy, best practices, tools, and frameworks (e.g., DoDAF, SysML, UAF) throughout the engineering lifecycle to support Contracting Officer Technical Representative(s) and developers to refine requirements, designs, and testing capabilities to meet user needs.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s and 9 or more years of experience; master’s and 7 or more years of experience; PhD and 5 or more years of experience in relevant technical field.

    • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Poly.

    • Experience developing, testing, or fielding IC or DOD (preferably NRO) software systems.

    • Experience using the SysML modeling language with MBSE tools (Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx, Enterprise Architect, or similar).

    • Familiarity with Space Domain Awareness (SDA) systems, activities, or operations.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • SDA Experience and familiarity with Indication and Warning (I&W) tactics, techniques, and procedures.

    • OCSMP (OMG-Credentialed Systems Modeling Professional) or similar advanced certification.

    • Experience with digital engineering ecosystems, including digital threads and digital twins.

    • Familiarity with Agile development to include participation in scrums, development of solution epics/features, and continuous integration/continuous deployment.

    • Proficiency with Confluence and JIRA.
