Department: Customer Engagement Marketing Analytics
Summary:
+ The Digital Products and Marketing Technology Team at Penn Medicine leads the strategy, development, and delivery of digital products, platforms and experiences that power marketing performance and patient engagement across the health system. This includes oversight of marketing technology, web and mobile experiences, CRM, and contact center solutions that drive personalized, connected journeys. The team also supports digital customer service channels, enabling timely, seamless assistance across web, chat, and other digital touchpoints.The Lead Technical Architect plays a pivotal role in shaping Penn Medicine's customer technology ecosystem, with a primary focus on Salesforce platforms. Sitting at the intersection of analytics, data, technology, and digital strategy, this role requires more than technical expertise - it demands a strategic mindset, strong cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to align complex architectures with enterprise goals. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on experience across Salesforce clouds (Health, Service, Sales, Experience, and more), designing scalable, high-performing solutions that power meaningful patient and provider experiences. With a solid understanding of healthcare dynamics, this leader will translate business needs into robust technical strategies, guiding teams and stakeholders through architecture design, integration, governance, and agile delivery from discovery to deployment and ongoing optimization.
Responsibilities:
+ Lead Technical Design and ArchitectureOwn the end-to-end technical design of Salesforce implementations, ensuring alignment with Penn Medicine’s enterprise architecture and strategic objectives.Facilitate technical discovery and design sessions, documenting scalable solutions that bridge current-state challenges and future-state goals.Lead key architectural activities including custom development, data modeling, data migration, integrations, and environment management.Drive estimation, scope definition, and workshop facilitation during project discovery phases.Establish and enforce coding standards, conduct code reviews, and champion architectural best practices across projectsDocument and maintain comprehensive data model architecture to support the full product lifecycle.
+ Grow and Evolve the Salesforce Product ArchitectureTranslate complex business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable Salesforce solutions in collaboration with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams.Serve as a subject matter expert across Salesforce Health Cloud and related clouds (Service, Sales, Experience), supporting use cases such as provider relationship management, contact centers, global medicine, and patient engagement.Ensure architectural solutions comply with security, regulatory, and performance standards, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.Oversee and optimize platform integrations and data flows, conducting regular audits to ensure data integrity, consistency, and system accuracy.Stay current on Salesforce platform enhancements, emerging technologies, and architectural trends to continuously improve solution design and delivery.
+ Thought Leadership and Team DevelopmentProvide strategic thought leadership at the intersection of healthcare, marketing, and technology, acting as a trusted advisor within the organization.Mentor developers, administrators, and junior architects, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.Support team growth by onboarding new employees and guiding their integration into delivery practices and architectural standards.
+ Industry Expertise and Continuous DevelopmentStay at the forefront of healthcare, marketing, and technology trends—leveraging competitive insights and innovations from high-performing organizations to inform platform strategy and optimization.Serve as a trusted subject matter expert by translating industry developments into actionable recommendations that enhance MarTech capabilities.Maintain proficiency in essential tools such as Salesforce, Databricks, SQL, and Excel to ensure strong execution and cross-functional collaboration.
Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
+ Bachelor's degree. (Required)
+ 10+ years of working in related field. (Required)
+ 5+ years of managing large projects/programs and/or overseeing teams. (Required)
+ Master's degree. (Preferred)
+ Previous experience in a healthcare organization. (Preferred)
