Position Summary...

The Edge Ingress Security (EIS) team is the first line of defense for our global digital footprint. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to architect and deliver the next generation of security capabilities. In this role, you won't just write code; you will own the full software lifecycle, from initial design to large scale deployment, driving innovation across infrastructure, automation, and AI/ML integration.

The Edge Ingress Security team protects Walmart’s global internet presence — securing our eCommerce platforms, apps, and services that serve hundreds of millions of users daily. We innovate at scale to detect and mitigate automated threats, DDoS attacks, and other web-based abuse while maintaining fast, reliable, and secure customer experiences.

What you'll do...

+ Design and develop large scale, real-time distributed systems.

+ Deliver end-to-end solutions covering UI, underlying infrastructure, and high-performance backend APIs.

+ Develop the pipelines and integrations necessary to support large-scale data processing and machine learning models for threat detection.

+ Build improved services to control the interoperability and mitigation logic between various ingress security layers.

+ Identify bottlenecks in the development lifecycle and automate workflows to enhance team-wide productivity

What you'll bring:

+ Proven experience in the end-to-end development lifecycle, from architecture and design to profiling, integration, and deployment.

+ Proficiency in **Golang, Python, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Node.js** .

+ Experience with automation framework

+ Experience with both **SQL** and **NoSQL** databases (e.g., **Cassandra** ) and caching layers like **Redis** or **Memcache** .

+ Expertise with modern monitoring tools such as **Grafana** , **OpenObserve,** or **Splunk** .

+ Solid understanding of SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.

+ A strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive initiatives with minimal oversight and communicate complex technical issues to diverse audiences.

+ 5+ years of professional work experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Bonus Points:

+ Knowledge of bot management platforms and how web properties operate at scale.

+ Practical experience with behavioral analytics, machine learning, or risk-scoring systems.

+ Prior exposure to large-scale production environments or eCommerce platforms.

Sunnyvale, California US-11656: The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
