Maintenance Technician – Hutchinson, KS
Position Summary:
Safely maintain the efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and the supporting facility systems while complying with OSHA plant safety requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Install, maintain, diagnose malfunctions and repair mechanical, electrical and piping systems in the food processing
+ Maintain, service, and rebuild a wide variety of plant machinery and equipment
+ Install, diagnose, and correct malfunctions of electrical controls, wiring, and equipment
+ Join metals by various processes in repair, maintenance, and construction of plant equipment and facilities
+ Maintain piping system throughout entire plant
+ Troubleshoot and evaluate mechanical equipment failures and perform necessary corrective actions on a wide variety of production equipment
+ Perform root cause analysis on equipment breakdowns and implement solutions to prevent reoccurrence
+ Complete preventative maintenance tasks and document essential information in the appropriate system
+ Maintain logs and records of work performed and materials and equipment used
+ Monitor inventory and request equipment and supplies
+ Lubricate, clean and repair equipment as needed
+ Perform welding as required
+ Operate and maintain various hand and power tools, pumps, motors and meters
+ Complete general housekeeping and sanitation in the shop area
+ Interact with other personnel to maintain safe, efficient operation of the plant.
+ Respond to callouts and emergencies as required.
+ Learn and comply with all food safety, GMP, and sanitation policies and procedures.
+ Other assignments or projects as requested by any member of management.
Required Skills:
+ Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
+ Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating instructions, technical procedures, and procedure manuals.
+ Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
+ Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
+ Ability to use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids
+ Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
+ Ability to make good decisions, including exhibiting sound and accurate judgment; supporting and explaining reasoning for decisions; including the appropriate people in decision-making process; making timely decisions; and identifying when issues should be referred to appropriate leadership
+ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
+ Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness
+ Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis
+ Critical thinking skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to research and interpret a variety of information and data. Ability to see both the big picture and the details. Ability to think at a systems level
+ Ability to perform in-depth needs assessment, recognize problems, opportunities and propose solutions. Ability to ask effective questions to gather information for needs assessment. Ability to analyze situations and translate them into priorities and action plans
Education Requirements:
+ High School Diploma or equivalent
+ 5 years of relevant maintenance and/or troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing facility or other industrial plant required.
Desired Experience:
+ Ability to operate powered industrial lift truck (forklift) preferred, but training will be provided
+ Ability to effectively and safely operate heavy equipment and machinery

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
