The Financial Counselor supports patients by explaining treatment costs, insurance coverage, and available assistance options. Serving as a liaison between clinical teams and revenue cycle partners, this role ensures timely financial clearance, prior authorizations, and payment solutions, particularly for complex, high -cost services such as oncology, infusion, and specialty pharmacy care. The Financial Counselor also contributes to operational improvements through account monitoring, data analysis, and collaboration with leadership to enhance both patient experience and financial outcomes.
**Shift:** 9am - 6:30pm CST
What you’ll do:
+ Counsel patients and families on treatment costs, insurance benefits, payment options, and financial assistance programs
+ Determine patient financial responsibility and secure payment arrangements or financial support
+ Coordinate and submit prior authorizations for high-cost infusion, oncology, and specialty services
+ Collaborate with patients, providers, payers, and pharmaceutical partners to ensure timely approvals
+ Assist patients with grants, co-pay assistance, free drug programs, and payment plans
+ Monitor patient accounts throughout the revenue cycle to ensure accurate processing of claims, payments, denials, and assistance programs
+ Track, report, and manage free drug and specialty medication programs
+ Analyze operational and financial data, prepare reports, and support performance improvement initiatives
+ Partner with clinical teams and leadership to address complex financial clearance needs and improve collections
What We’re Looking For
+ Experience in healthcare financial counseling, revenue cycle, or patient financial services
+ Knowledge of insurance authorization processes and financial assistance programs
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
+ Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and compassionately
+ Commitment to compliance, confidentiality, and patient-centered care

What you’ll need for this job:
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ Minimum 2 or 3 years of experience in Patient Access or Patient Accounting for hospital registration and / or hospital reimbursement services
+ Strong communication, customer service, and data-entry accuracy skills.
Compensation:
Pay Range: $18.16 - $28.14 per hour
_Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles._
