Based in our Redmond, Washington campus, the Leo EHS Manager will develop, communicate, train, drive, manage, audit, improve, and measure Amazon’s Leo EHS performance. This individual contributor role will include developing and enhancing EHS compliance and risk management processes. Driving understanding, engagement to provide EHS performance improvement, for the Leo portfolio, influence business units leadership, and further integrate EHS into daily operations.
Key job responsibilities
- Conducts investigations of working conditions in places of employment for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards, with specific references to chemicals, noise, lasers, and other potential worker health hazards.
- Collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines within the company to assure effective program implementation and cohesiveness.
- Promote the successful integration of safety and health risk management into key business operations, processes, and audits.
- Perform data analytics on company and industry EHS information to drive improvement initiatives.
- Promote EHS awareness throughout the organization through effective employee communications, participation, and programming.
- Provide technical assistance and support and serve as key point of contact for safety issues and environmental issues.
- Manages proper waste disposal, and EHS reporting in accordance with permit and local requirements.
- Conduct compliance tasks including chemical inventory, and life safety audits, as needed.
- Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations and customer requirements.
- Support and conduct EHS audits, developing action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures promptly and effectively.
- Provide leadership on Leo EHS issues, assist senior leaders in understanding business impacts of EHS issues, thereby enabling prudent allocation of resources and decision-making.
- Develop and implement EHS training programs that will engage all levels of Leo teams on EHS responsibilities, compliance requirements and cultural progression.
- Provide safety guidance for developing production processes, equipment, and design.
- Remain up-to-date and conversant with relevant laws, regulations and other statutory requirements that affect EHS.
Export Control Requirements
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
A day in the life
Based at our Redmond, Washington campus the EHS Manager role will develop and support Amazon Leo’s EHS compliance programs and be supported under the supervision of the Leo EHS leader. You will lead Leo EHS's development and research operations in the development, testing, and manufacture of space hardware, which will include developing new programs to strengthen our programs EHS compliance and risk management processes.
This individual contributor role is accountable for supporting development and implementation of environmental, health and safety programs, tools and standards in line with Leo Global EHS policies. Responsibilities include training and communication in a manner that ensures compliance to regulatory and internal standards, as well as business needs. Key to this role is building and maintaining strong relationships with all levels of the organization from leadership to individual workers to support them in determining best in class methods to achieve compliance.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, math, business or equivalent
- Experience using data to influence business decisions
- Experience with lab safety, security and quality practices
- Experience in regulatory compliance management with government agencies
- Experience in risk management and internal audit including: performing risk assessments and audits, designing controls, managing enterprise control frameworks, and prioritizing risk
- Experience working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations
- Experience problem solving and root cause analysis
- 7+ years of occupational health & safety experience
- Experience developing and implementing job hazard analysis (JHAs)
Preferred Qualifications
- experience with radiation safety
- Monitoring compliance with Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, RCRA, and state-specific environmental regulations
- Preparing and submitting regulatory reports including TRI, air emissions inventories, and discharge monitoring reports
- Manage environmental permits including NPDES, air quality, and stormwater permits

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
