Description
Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
We are looking for a talented product counsel to join Amazon’s Devices legal team. You will provide legal support for a wide array of consumer electronics products, including Project Kuiper’s customer terminals, accessories and other flagship-branded devices. In this role, you will counsel senior business clients on strategic initiatives and key legal issues throughout the life cycle of our products. These include product compliance, safety, sustainability, and other regulatory requirements.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways. You will build processes that address risks while enabling business teams to move with speed and flexibility. The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Principal responsibilities include:
- Serve as the primary hardware product regulatory counsel for various products.
- Provide guidance on product compliance, safety and sustainability requirements.
- Interact regularly with international teams, and work with local counsels on legal issues, international regulations and pre-litigation disputes and inquiries.
Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience advising on product regulatory, sustainability, or product safety matters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
- Ability to work independently while contributing successfully to cross-functional teams
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
- Strong written and oral communication, analytical, and computer skills

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
