Duties Description Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Data and Business Intelligence (MITS 2), SG-29 the Information Technology Architect, SG-25, will serve as a Lead Data Architect within the Artificial intelligence (AI) and Data Science Unit. This position will establish the foundational infrastructure required to advance the OAG’s data-driven mission. This role will focus on ensuring structured and unstructured data can be securely accessed, governed, and analyzed across required platforms. The Lead Data Architect will provide the technical leadership to align infrastructure with legal, operational, and innovative priorities.Duties: • Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models, using data modeling techniques like Entity-Relationship, Object-Relational, and Dimensional modeling.• Design and manage centralized data architecture solutions including data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts.• Evaluate, identify and develop enterprise data management software solutions.• Lead enterprise data management software development projects. • Document and record every aspect of an application or software. • Plan, track and schedule enterprise data management software deliverables.• Locate and direct solutions for critical challenges involving software and hardware interfaces.• Identify problems within enterprise data management software systems and resolve the issues.• Collaborate with other teams within the Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) to devise and implement enterprise data strategies, build models, and assess stakeholder needs and goals.• Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of the OAG Enterprise Data Governance Policy, setting the rules and standards concerning enterprise data management including: o Covering data management goals, procedures, and business expectations. o Defining metrics and best practices to ensure data quality, privacy, and security. o Establishing how data must be managed at different stages of its lifecycle and who is responsible for which tasks.• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree computer science, software engineering, IT or a related field and four (4) years of broad information technology (IT) experience, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of software engineering, data engineering, database administration or other data-related specialty and its application within large-scale organizations. • At least four (4) years of which must be specialized experience in data management solution architecture, database design, data governance, metadata management, data quality management, software development, modeling, or warehousing.Substitutions: Four years of specialized experience or an associate's degree and two years of specialized experience may substitute for the bachelor’s degree. Juris doctorate or master's degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience. A Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS• Possess industry certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, Certified Enterprise Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer, Google Professional Cloud Architect).• Experience supporting AI/ML workflows and data science platforms. • Experience across a broad range of COTS and home-grown internal and external-facing applications and related data sets, microservices and event-driven architecture• Experience with optimizing enterprise data architecture in use of data warehouses and data lakes using industry leading platforms• Familiarity with legal data systems, eDiscovery tools, or case management systems.
