    Description

    ARCADIS is currently searching for a Mechanical Building Construction Inspector, with 10-15 years’ experience, to join our Water Construction Management team in one of the Arcadis San Francisco Bay Area offices.

     

    This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified consulting firms in the country. Civil / Mechanical Inspector will utilize their prior experience and expertise in Mechanical construction field management, QA / QC, and report documentation on various construction projects. Inspector will report to the Resident Engineer for the project.

    Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    • Review plans and specifications; observe and inspect construction activities performed by the contractor ensuring compliance with contract requirements.

    • Perform daily mechanical building inspections, develop daily reports and photographic documentation, develop punch lists, participate in project schedule reviews and contractor invoice reviews.

    • Maintain quality assurance requirements and approaches and monitor code compliance.

    • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections.

    • While performing daily inspections, inspector will be required to ensure ARCADIS and project safety guidelines are being met.

    • Review contractor submittals and ensure contractor compliance with the requirements of the shop drawings.

    • Monitor all required equipment field alignment, testing and commissioning.

    • Document instances of material and/or installation non-compliance.

    • Attend project site Contractor Coordination Meetings.

    • Monitor large diameter buried piping, mechanical equipment, and process piping installation.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Required Qualifications:

    - 10-15 years’ experience.

     

    - Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering technology, Construction Technology, a related field of study or a HS Diploma along with Continuing Education Diploma or Certification in Construction.

     

    - Experience with mechanical construction inspection activities on medium to large-sized heavy civil / mechanical construction projects.

     

    - Strong oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to analyze and organize large amounts of data.

     

    - Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems, along with a high level of math aptitude.

     

    - Ability to multi-task several priorities and possess solid time management skills.

     

    - Proficient in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

     

    - Position requires employee to work year-round in various weather conditions, on different shift hours.

     

    - Ability to work on a second shift if necessary.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 15+ years of civil/utility/mechanical construction inspection experience.

    • Associate’s degree in construction management or engineering technology.

    • Buried piping and water treatment plant construction experience.

    • Mechanical/HVAC installation experience

    • OSHA 10 Safety, Confined Space Entry and Fall Protection Training.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    - Strong understanding of steel piping and steel ducts to support the movement of water, wastewater, and other chemicals

     

    - Has been on projects previously where they've inspected or led the MEP efforts of projects, everything from mechanical, electrical, to plumbing, and control systems - *reference MEP projects and systems in job descriptions

     

    - Experience working alongside inspection teams and coordinating with dynamic group, working with civil engineers, MEP superintendents, and contractors

     

    - 10 years of working through MEP construction (can be flexible but dependent on their experience), doesn't have to be inspection specifically, can be coordinator or manager bg

     

    - No technical degree required but must have strong working knowledge of MEP systems

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orinda, CA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $67.30 - $86.53/hr.
