Responsibilities
The Coordinator of Pharmacy Supplies works closely with the Manager and Director of Pharmacy Supplies along with other Pharmacy purchasing staff; and performs the following duties to assigned sites across Mayo Midwest: ensures effective procurement and inventory of medication and supplies; timely and effectively responds to medication shortages and recalls; ensures implementation and compliance with all contracts; ensures accurate pricing and billing of medications; and ensures accurate and timely return or destruction of pharmaceuticals.
The Coordinator will effectively perform the activities and duties of the Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist position; and maintain competency and routinely perform advanced purchasing duties including:
+ Coordination of product changes across Mayo Midwest
+ Ensuring contract compliance
+ Managing drug shortages across Mayo Midwest
+ Managing recalls across Mayo Midwest
+ Management of the Critical Drug/Antidote List and inventory
+ Oversight of the consignment programs across Mayo Midwest
+ Ordering and management of seasonal flu vaccine for Mayo Midwest
+ Management of the Vizient Plasma Program for Mayo Midwest
+ Provide back-up coverage for purchasing specialist absences in Mayo Midwest
+ Assisting with the interviewing; hiring; training and ongoing mentoring of purchasing specialists
+ Assisting with the writing of purchasing policies and SOPs
Qualifications
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree (business, management, accounting or related field) AND 2-years of pharmacy purchasing specialist experience;
OR
+ Two-year college degree (healthcare of business preferred) AND 4-years pharmacy purchasing specialist experience;
OR
+ High school diploma AND 6-years pharmacy purchasing specialist experience.
Additional Qualifications
+ Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English.
+ Strong leadership skills.
+ Must be detailed-oriented; able to prioritize work and able to work independently under general guidelines and procedures.
+ Must demonstrate excellent communication skills; computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications; work collaboratively with others and work independently with minimal supervision.
+ Formal training in purchasing or inventory management.
+ No history of drug abuse or misuse, or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.
License and Certification
+ Current registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy.
+ National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
