    Job Title: Welder** **Job Description

     

    We are seeking skilled welders to perform fluxcore MIG welding on components for the fabrication of steel bridges up to 1/2" thick. This role involves working from blueprints to execute full layouts and fabrication tasks. The position requires occasional operation of overhead and Jib cranes, as well as other equipment such as band saws, drill presses, stud welders, and grinders. This is a dynamic role that involves moving around the shop and welding in various positions, sometimes in confined spaces. Candidates with prior lead experience may have the opportunity to advance into a lead welder position.

    Responsibilities

    + Perform fluxcore MIG welding on components for steel bridge fabrication.

    + Interpret and work from blueprints to conduct full layouts and associated fabrication tasks.

    + Operate overhead and Jib cranes as needed.

    + Utilize additional equipment including band saws, drill presses, stud welders, and grinders.

    + Ensure welding tasks meet full penetration standards and pass X-ray inspections.

    + Potentially assume lead welder responsibilities based on performance and experience.

    Essential Skills

    + Strong structural welding experience.

    + Ability to independently determine and execute tasks without direct supervision.

    + Willingness to learn and adapt to various fabrication processes.

    + Capability to consistently lift 50 lbs, and perform tasks involving kneeling, stooping, and crawling.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.

    + Experience with fluxcore welding on structural steel.

    + Ability to pass 3F and 4F tests within the first few days and a 3G weld test within the first month.

    Work Environment

    Work in a small-sized structural fabrication shop without air conditioning. The environment can be messy. Shifts include 2nd Shift from 4:00 pm to 2:30 am and 1st Shift from 5:30 am to 4:00 pm, with two 15-minute breaks and a half-hour unpaid lunch.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shakopee, MN.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
