    Job Summary

    Our Springfield District office has a vacancy for an Electric Line Worker Trainee.

     

    Responsibilities will include a full range of line construction and maintenance work on the electrical distribution systems. This position will involve working with both energized and de-energized electrical systems while troubleshooting, constructing and repairing overhead and underground electrical lines. This position requires a valid CDL and overtime availability will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following.

     

    • Climb poles and towers

    • Work aloft with and lift tools and material up to 60 lbs

    • Drive and/or operate vehicles for long distances

    • Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain distribution system.

    • Work in inclement weather as needed or service dictates

    • Work in adverse environments such as swamps, wetlands, coastal sounds, lakes, rivers and mountains

    • Must be available for overtime including extended workdays and holidays

    • Due to weight limits on equipment, a weight restriction of 290 pounds applies

    • Perform other duties, as assigned

     

    Electric Line Worker Trainee pay rate: $28.95 base pay, plus a 10% wage supplement for the Springfield office.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

    + Prefer experience in the electric distribution field.

    + Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.

    + The ability to lift up to 75 lbs. is required.

    + The ability to work off a ladder is required.

    + Be able to obtain a Class A CDL by the end of the 5th month of work.

    + Forklift operations, aerial lifts, power driven equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, etc.

    + Ability to climb poles and towers.

    Education Requirements

    High School Diploma or GED is required.

    Test Description

    This job requires "recommended" test results from Modern Hire Electric Line Worker Virtual Job Tryout administered online. The assessment is untimed, but usually takes about 45 minutes to complete.
