Overview
Copilot Studio is Microsoft’s enterprise platform for building and interacting with AI-powered, low-code solutions—enabling the creation of intelligent agents and conversational experiences used by millions of users. The Copilot Studio team designs and delivers intuitive authoring and runtime experiences that empower citizen developers and pro developers alike to solve real-world problems and extend Microsoft’s family of Copilots across business systems and channels.
We’re looking for a **Principal Software Engineer** with a strong front-end focus to help build modern, high-scale, and inclusive user experiences. You’ll work on intuitive authoring surfaces that support diverse personas in fusion teams, translating complex AI capabilities into approachable, high-quality interactions.
As part of a highly collaborative SaaS team, you’ll own features end-to-end—from development to production—building automated tests, ensuring quality and reliability, and delivering continuously at scale. We value a growth mindset, shared ownership, and the ability to take ideas from concept to impact while shaping how people build and interact with AI.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

+ 5+ years of professional experience building front-end web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript
+ Experience building and shipping user-facing product features where large language models (LLMs) or AI-powered tools are a core part of the experience in production systems.
+ Experience designing and delivering large-scale, user-facing software systems, with a proven ability to make sound architectural and experience tradeoffs across front-end and distributed system boundaries.
+ Demonstrated technical leadership in building complex, production-grade applications, including ownership of system design, performance, reliability, accessibility, and long-term maintainability.
+ Hands-on experience building and shipping AI-powered product features, where large language models (LLMs) are a core part of the user or developer experience—not prototypes—including real-world iteration based on usage, feedback, and quality signals.
+ Practical experience working with AI tools and coding models as part of modern software development, such as generating, analyzing, refactoring, or validating code, and incorporating AI-assisted workflows into day-to-day engineering practices.
