    Description

    The Division of Cardiology at The Heart Institute, Stony Brook University Hospital, seeks a Director or Associate Director of our Sports Cardiology Program. The successful academic clinical cardiologist will help develop and lead a comprehensive sports cardiology service, with a tailored mix of outpatient and inpatient care. The focus will be for both competitive and recreational athletes, integrating established advanced imaging and multidisciplinary collaboration. This position offers a robust and flexible mix of inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities within a major university-based Heart Institute. Clinical effort, areas of focus, and academic activities will be tailored to align with individual strengths, subspecialty interests, and long-term career goals.

    + For candidates with appropriate training and certification, the role will incorporate outpatient and inpatient responsibilities tailored to professional development. Deliver specialized outpatient care for athletes, highly active individuals, local and regional sports teams and programs, patients with complex ECGs, imaging, cardiomyopathies, and channelopathies.

    + Lead and collaborate with a highly motivated team of orthopedic surgeons, primary care, neurology, and institutional athletic program heads while teaching an outstanding group of fellows and residents.

    + Protected and integrated time for echocardiography, including TTE/TEE, imaging consultation, quality initiatives, cardiac CT and MRI will be based on career trajectory.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    The ideal candidate will be an ambitious and kind physician who enjoys seeing patients, teaching and committed to contributing to the growth and long-term goals of the Heart Institute. MD, DO or MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent). Board certified in Internal Medicine, board eligible/board certified in Cardiovascular disease with a strong background or formal training in sports cardiology.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Certification in echocardiography, cardiac CT/MRI, or related areas based on the applicant’s desired trajectory.
