About the School & Setting

South Bay High School is an innovative Nonpublic School (NPS) located within Starr View Adolescent Center, a secure therapeutic treatment facility serving emotionally disturbed adolescents.

This is not a traditional school environment—the classroom is embedded within a psychiatric facility that provides intensive clinical, behavioral, and educational support for youth ages 12–17.

Credentialed instructors work closely with clinical teams to support students’ emotional, behavioral, and academic growth. Teachers deliver instruction at the middle and high school levels within a highly structured, supportive, and trauma-informed setting.

Position: Mild/Moderate Education Specialist (Credential Required)

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours/week)

Start Date: ASAP

Setting: Classroom-based instruction only (no parent interaction or dorm access)

Key Responsibilities

+ Provide specialized academic instruction to high school–level students

+ Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

+ Support adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges in a structured therapeutic environment

+ Maintain consistent communication with school leadership and clinical teams

+ Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning, behavioral, and emotional needs

+ Uphold safety, structure, and trauma-informed practices at all times
