    Job Summary

    The Communications Director will provide strategic leadership over all for the FAA program, ensuring staff at all levels are informed, aligned, and engaged.

    Primary Job Functions

    + Develop and distribute program announcements, bulletins, newsletters, and leadership communications, reinforcing key milestones and priorities.

    + Establish consistent messaging frameworks that highlight the program’s core pillars of safety, schedule, and quality.

    + Serve as the communications hub between program leadership, regional teams, and functional workstreams, ensuring clarity and transparency.

    + Coordinate with partner companies’ PR and communications teams (e.g., Peraton, subcontractors) to align messaging and manage joint announcements.

    + Support executive communications, including talking points, briefing materials, and stakeholder updates for FAA leadership meetings.

    + Manage crisis and issue communications, enabling rapid, coordinated responses to risks or delays.

    + Develop and maintain a communications calendar, aligning updates with program milestones and FAA reporting requirements.

    + Track communications effectiveness through feedback loops, surveys, and stakeholder input, adjusting strategies as needed.

    + Mentor and oversee communications staff, scaling capacity as program volume increases nationwide.

    Education, Experience and Certification

    + Bachelor’s degree in communications, Business Administration or related field.

    + 5-7 years Progressive leadership experience in communications strategy and operations, including oversight of cross-functional teams, project execution, and stakeholder engagement within complex, multi-site, or matrixed organizational environments.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    + Expert knowledge of federal contracting frameworks, including FAR, DFARS, FAC requirements, and federal procurement processes, with the ability to apply regulatory guidance to communications planning and execution.

    + Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams fostering alignment, accountability, and high performance across complex organizational structures.

    + Exceptional executive-level communication skills, with the ability to translate strategic direction and policy guidance into clear, actionable communications and operational plans.

    + Proven ability to manage competing priorities and evolving timelines, balancing multiple stakeholder needs in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.

    + Strong proficiency with project and workflow management tools, ensuring effective planning, tracking, and delivery of communications initiatives.

    + Track record of success in high-pressure, regulated environments, requiring discretion, adaptability, sound judgment, and strict adherence to federal compliance standards.

    Travel Requirements

    + Occasional Travel (up to 10%)
