Job Description
Insight Global's large semiconductor client is looking for an Equipment Engineer to join their Optical Systems Division. This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining facilities and production equipment across the site. The role ensures all equipment runs efficiently, meets safety standards, and complies with regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and managing new equipment installations. The individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are required to coordinate with production, maintenance, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines. This position also involves ensuring compliance with quality, environmental, and safety regulations, including participation in the site’s ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
This is a permanent position, 5 days a week onsite in Charlotte, NC. The salary range is $90,000-$142,000.

Skills and Requirements
• Bachelor’s in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years working with equipment and facilities in a wafer processing environment.
• Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting (semiconductor tools like steppers, aligners, coat/develop tracks, wafer bonders, plasma etchers, overlay tools, dicing saws).
• Experience troubleshooting with various facility systems (HVAC, chilled water, power, UPS).
• Experience with any type of wafer fab (fabricator) equipment – vacuum, RF, robotics, and high purity gas systems. Equipment experience in a compound semiconductor manufacturing environment or MEMs fab is preferred.
