Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Houston, Texas. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer with 10–15+ years of electrical engineering expertise, specializing in power systems analysis, protection, and stability studies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background working with utilities, oil & gas, or engineering consulting firms. This role will support the Project Engineering Team by leading complex electrical studies, ensuring system reliability, and providing technical guidance on major projects.
Perform comprehensive Power Systems Analysis, including load flow studies, short-circuit analysis, and motor starting evaluations.
Conduct Electrical Stability Analysis to assess and enhance system performance under dynamic conditions.
Develop and review Electrical Protection schemes, including relay logic, settings, and configuration.
Execute Protection Coordination studies using TCC (Time Current Characteristic) curves.
Utilize industry-standard software such as ETAP (and others as applicable) to model, simulate, and evaluate electrical systems.
Support engineering design activities related to utility-scale, oil & gas facilities, and industrial power systems.
Analyze and evaluate performance of systems with wind turbines / windmill power generation components.
Select, specify, and troubleshoot relays, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and other electrical equipment.
Provide motor starting and acceleration studies for complex motors and large industrial loads.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
10–15+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on power systems.
Strong background in utilities, oil & gas, or consulting environments.
Proficiency in ETAP or equivalent power analysis tools (SKM, PSCAD, EasyPower).
Demonstrated experience in protection coordination, stability analysis, and advanced power systems studies.
Knowledge of wind energy systems, relays, VFD configuration, and motor performance.
Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
