Job Description:

Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, weekend on call when scheduled

Provides supervised education experiences for students that fulfill the curriculum requirements of the academic institution. Participates in after-hours on-call coverage and maintains competency with after-hours treatment coverage. Assesses patients' needs and seeks to resolve any potential problems or conflicts. Other duties as assigned. Performs morning quality checks on the treatment unit, assessing whether all equipment is operating according to physics policy and calling the appropriate person immediately after equipment malfunctions. Serves as a mentor by providing training and encouragement to junior radiation therapists. Treats patients in a timely and courteous manner, handling stressful situations appropriately and communicating effectively with patients of all ages. Observes patient reactions to treatment and assists in accommodating the patient through the treatment process. Verifies the physician’s prescription and treatment parameters daily to ensure accurate treatment of the patient in accordance with the prescription and treatment plan. Identifies the treatment volume and positions the patient in a consistent and reproducible manner. Performs all aspects of CT Simulation, including administering contrast agents during simulation localization under the direction of the physician or non-physician practitioner. Evaluates prescribed imaging and makes requested changes within 24 hours, accurately documenting treatment information in the patient electronic health record (EHR) and utilizing the record and verify system. Reviews all new starts for consistency prior to treatment, checking blocks, simulation documents, dose calculation sheets, prescriptions, field photos, and verifying patient positioning and field orientation.
