Job Summary
The Material Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and efficient handling, storage, and distribution of materials within GE Aviation Systems LLC, ensuring optimal inventory levels and supporting production operations.
Job Responsibilities
* Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and specifications, documenting any discrepancies.
* Safely and efficiently store materials in designated warehouse locations, utilizing appropriate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
* Pick, pack, and issue materials to production lines and other departments according to work orders and schedules.
* Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with physical inventory to maintain inventory accuracy.
* Operate computerized inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to track material movement, record transactions, and generate reports.
* Identify and report damaged, defective, or obsolete materials.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
* Collaborate with production, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve material-related issues and ensure smooth operations.
* Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring proper documentation and securing of materials.
* May be required to perform basic kitting or assembly tasks as needed.
Job Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED.
* 1-3 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or material handling role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) with a valid certification or ability to obtain one.
* Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) preferred.
* Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and stand/walk for extended periods.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy in managing inventory and documentation.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
* Must be able to work a 1st shift schedule (e.g., Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM), with potential for overtime as needed.
