• Commodity Identification Coordinator

    Job Description

    The Commodity Identification Coordinator reviews all unverified commodities on a freight bill, as well as verified commodities with questionable item numbers, descriptions, and/or freight characteristics, and assigns the appropriate NMFC item numbers.

    Responsibilities

    * Other duties and projects, as assigned.

    * Understand and apply the ABF Quality Process.

    * Establish and maintain a good rapport with other ABF/ArcBest personnel to promote an effective line of communication.

    * Maintain acceptable productivity and accuracy levels.

    * Work in a team setting to accomplish group and departmental goals.

    * Assign appropriate NMFC item numbers to commodities requiring manual verification so that they may be eligible for automated rating.

    * Researches questionable commodity information from customer bill of ladings to determine most appropriate NMFC item number.

    * Maintains a good understanding of the NMFC and keeps up with periodic updates and changes.

    * Knowledgeable in RAT CRD COM and all presented data.

    * Awareness of NMFC rules and 111 exceptions to NMFC rules.

    * Knowledgeable with all internal NMFC search tools.

    * Maintain a positive attitude and high accuracy level in a fast-paced and time-critical environment.

    Requirements

    Education:

    * Bachelor's Degree, preferred

    Experience:

    * No prior experience necessary

    Computer Skills:

    * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, preferred

    Additional Requirements:

    * General knowledge of NMFC and classification rules, preferred

    Other Details

    Work Hours:

    * Generally, 6:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional irregular hours or weekends depending on workload.

    Travel Requirements:

    * Minimal (0-25%)

    Compensation:

    * This is an hourly position paid biweekly.
