    Job Description:

    The Workplace team are accountable for managing the end-to-end property lifecycle for bp’s corporate office portfolio. Operating in 50 plus countries and over 100 diverse locations the team are central to the transformation of the workplace experience and the associated services.     This role of Workplace Engineering Manager will ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with bp’s policies and ambitions, ensuring the enterprise-wide Risk Management Framework and regulatory requirements are always upheld. The role holder will provide a legally compliant engineering service to bp Workplace Americas occupiers, through excellent service delivery, via agreed service levels.

     

    + Responsible and accountable for the delivery of all Engineering services provided by Workplace in the Americas. Managing the delivery and performance of outsourced (Vested) engineering services, within agreed budgets

    + Optimising asset lifespans and minimizing failure through maintenance planning, including the balancing of planned, condition based and reactive maintenance

    + Ensuring the engineering asset database is maintained for accuracy and completeness

    + Supporting corporate sustainability, environmental and energy ambitions through engineering solutions and innovations.

     

    The holder of this role will be the subject matter expert for engineering services on electrical, mechanical, fire and security systems in the Americas and is responsible for the day-to-day management of risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to regional engineering, ensuring incidents are reported up to be collected and acted upon centrally, while lessons are learned in region.

     

    This role will also be responsible for the global workplace supplier Vested relationship, providing guidance to the global workplace supplier in all aspects of workplace engineering on behalf of bp in the Americas.

    Key Accountabilities:

    + Create consistent engineering solutions and strategies regionally, that subsequently roll up into the global plan, through innovation and attention to market trends

    + Develop credibility across the Americas region by delivering professional services across projects and operations which are value driven and fit for purpose

    + Demonstrate critical thinking by identifying risks, anticipating challenges, and providing actionable insights to leadership

    + Review and manage engineering and systems related budgets for the Americas region, which support the asset management of bp’s lifecycle projections and the wider global engineering budget

    + Ensure all regional engineering suppliers adhere to and exceed policies related to performance, compliance and safety, working with them to bring best class solutions to bp in a timely, cost-efficient manner

    + Ensure internal customers receive ‘best in class’ service delivery, with minimised downtime to services, through careful stewardship of all assets

    + Lead strategic engineering review meetings, fostering a culture of feedback, continuous improvement, and adaptability within the engineering team.

    + Contribute or lead incident investigations, presenting feedback to local and central stakeholders

    + Proactively communicate with all stakeholders, delivering clear, timely, and impactful updates and presentations.

    + Manage suppliers rigorously, implementing KPIs and taking corrective action to ensure compliance and performance through Vested methodologies.

    + Certain processes may necessitate work being undertaken outside of standard operating hours.

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical, P.E. EEng)

    + Member of professional institute, with Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirement

    + Professional industry certifications (Reliability, Six Sigma, etc.)

    Experience and Job Requirements:

    + Experience of managing Workplace engineering services in a large multinational organisation

    + Well-developed interpersonal communication style and demonstrable inclusive leadership skills

    + Demonstrable experience in achieving results in diverse cultures drives an inquisitive yet respectful mentality whilst promoting innovation and continuous improvement

    + Good knowledge of managing process efficiency, data quality, systems performance and development and budgetary control, with respect to implementing workplace engineering services outsourcing initiatives

    + Track record of initiating, leading and managing a full range of statutory mechanical and electrical engineering processes and services in a regional organisation, with a diverse portfolio of operations, which will have included critical environments

    + Proven track record of leading and developing engineering teams to deliver high levels of achievement and innovation

    + Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, building sustainable networks of using high Emotional Intelligence.

    + Availability to work on weekends when required

    Desirable Criteria:

    + Having previously worked with the Vested methodology

    + Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, collaborative and flexible style

    + Experience and knowledge of using health and safety, environmental and quality management systems

    + Deep analytical approach and practical ability to transform a portfolio.
