We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our collaborative, fast-paced team.
Position Overview
As a Machine Tool Engineer Intern, you will work closely with experienced engineers to support the design, improvement, and documentation of specialized machine tools. This role provides hands-on exposure to mechanical engineering concepts, industrial applications, and real-world problem-solving in a supportive environment.
Hours & Compensation
+ Schedule:Flexible Monday–Friday hours to accommodate academic commitments
Compensation:Competitive hourly rate (based on experience and academic level)
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in defining the scope and requirements of machine tool design projects
• Support creation of manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• Participate in reviewing and selecting mechanical and machine components
• Join in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and project meetings
• Help prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Document design processes, updates, and engineering solutions
• Collaborate with machinists, technicians, and subject matter experts on engineering tasks
• Reverse engineer existing equipment by mechanically measuring components and modeling legacy drawings
• Catalog parts according to company standard naming conventions and database requirements
Qualifications
+ Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
+ Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
+ Basic understanding of mechanical design principles
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
+ Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
+ Effective verbal and written communication abilities
+ Problem-solving mindset and eagerness to learn
Learning Opportunities

+ Introduction to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
+ Insight into manufacturing processes and shop-floor requirements
+ Exposure to tooling, fixturing, and design-for-manufacturing concepts
