This job is a member of the Integrated Operations Division. This role supports the daily operations of Central Load Planning (CLP), ensuring safe and accurate weight and balance functions while promoting on-time performance. It involves coordinating with internal teams and external partners such as airports, dispatch, and the FAA, while also overseeing CLP safety programs, operational issue resolution, and employee development.
What you'll do
• Supervises CLP Crew Chiefs and Load Planners.
• Coordinates CLP policies & procedures with cross-functional teams and internal and external departments in support of the AA operation
• Maintains time & attendance records, personnel files, performance records and assists with hiring of Load Planners
• Conducts the Quality Control and Safety Assurance Program for Central Load Planning
• Conducts ‘Safety Huddles’ with Load Planners and Crew Chiefs
• Supervises the CLP ASAP and SA programs including auditor scheduling, selection, and audit program development
• Reviews and analyzes safety assurance data to improve department productivity & efficiency
• Develops and executes applicable bids for CLP Duty Managers, Crew Chiefs, and Load Planners
• Responsible for workload allocation and desk coverage
• Responsible for coaching and counseling for IAM/TWU Represented employees and adhering to Fleet Service contractual language in the daily oversight of Central Load Planning
• Interprets company policies for team members and enforces safety regulations
• Oversees CLP training programs, including initial, recurrent, and monthly exams
• Develops, maintains, and updates curriculum, course materials, facilitator’s guides, and training booklets for in class and on the job training
• Develops and maintains departmental manuals including CLPOM and Load Planner desk reference
• Coordinates with IOC Business Technology and AA IT on implementation, development, and training of applicable safety protocols and automation updates
• Performs other duties as required
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• 2 years of leadership experience
• 1 year of experience with FOS and/or PSS
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
• Working knowledge of Load Planning System
• Familiarity in a union environment
• Experience with the AA Safety Management System (SMS) including ASAP and/or LOSA
• Thorough familiarity with all aspects of AA operations, policies, and procedures
• Previous experience conducting operational research
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
• Works well with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal, planning and organizational skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to multi-task and shift priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels within the organization from front-line employees to senior leadership
• Ability to pass FAA criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privilege to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable
• Ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable
• Ability to mentor and teach Load Planners safety assurance and auditor appropriate skills
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and complete projects on time
