Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated **School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)** to support developmentally disabled and dual-diagnosed students in a school-based setting. This role works collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and a multidisciplinary team to help students improve functional skills and succeed academically and socially.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
+ Manage and conduct therapy sessions independently with access to on-site or nearby supervisors and peers for support
+ Deliver occupational therapy services primarily within **ABA programming environments**
+ Collaborate across disciplines while maintaining ownership of individual therapy sessions
+ Serve a predominantly **preschool-aged population (ages 5 and under)** , with an additional caseload including children up to **age 12**
+ Provide OT services exclusively to referred pediatric clients ( **under age 18** )
+ Focus treatment on **emotional regulation, visual-motor integration, and pediatric developmental goals**
+ Maintain an average caseload of **approximately 30 clients per week** , typically **6 sessions per day**
+ Document sessions, progress, and outcomes in accordance with school and regulatory requirements
Key Responsibilities
+ Assist in evaluating students upon entry to the school program
+ Provide individual and group occupational therapy services under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
+ Support the development, implementation, and updates of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
+ Prepare semester progress reports for students under supervision
+ Collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary team members
+ Participate in staff and therapy department meetings and in-service trainings
+ Maintain therapy equipment and materials in coordination with leadership
+ Perform related duties and special projects as assigned
Schedule & Work Locations
+ **10-month school-year role:** **August–May**
+ **June & July off**
+ Weekday schedule ( **Monday–Friday** )
+ **4 days per week in Phoenix**
+ **1 day per week in Buckeye**
Required Qualifications
+ Associate degree from an accredited COTA program
+ Eligible for NBCOT (AOTCB) certification
+ Eligible for **Arizona** state licensure
+ Ability to pass required fingerprinting/background clearance
Skills & Abilities
+ Comfortable working independently while collaborating in a team-based environment
+ Strong communication skills with students, parents, staff, and community partners
+ Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
+ Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching throughout the school day
+ Ability to lift up to 40 lbs independently and assist with student mobility as needed
+ Moderate to loud noise levels
+ Work with students who may display challenging physical behaviors
Compensation
+ **Salary:** **$50,000 – $60,000 per year** _(10-month position)_
+ Compensation is based on experience and qualifications
