    Job Title: GIS Technician 2Job Description

     

    We are seeking a dedicated and skilled GIS Technician 2 to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in a related field and possess a diploma or certificate in Geographical Information Systems or a related curriculum.

    Responsibilities

    + Manage routine GIS tasks, including data management and map creation ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

    + Create maps and other visual representations using GIS tools.

    + Ensure timely updates to GIS databases.

    + Collaborate with GIS Analysts on complex projects.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve data inconsistencies.

    + Provide input on GIS tool enhancements.

    Essential Skills

    + 2-4 years of experience working with GIS software, tools, and databases.

    + Proficiency in mapping and editing with GIS tools.

    + Experience with ArcPro and performing QA/QC on version data.

    + Advanced proficiency in Esri ArcGIS 10.2x and the MS Office suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).

    + Intermediate proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Enterprise, Geometric Network, Model Builder, Python, and SQL RDBMS.

    + Basic proficiency in AutoCAD/CADD, Visual Basic/VBA, and SharePoint.

    + Excellent geoprocessing and spatial analysis skills.

    + Strong requirements review, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in geography (GIS), engineering, computer science, or related field preferred.

    + GIS certificate and 2+ years of related work experience in lieu of a degree in related discipline is acceptable.

    + Master’s degree in geography (GIS, geosciences, engineering, computer science or related field) is preferred.

    + Previous experience in the utility or pipeline space is a plus.

    + Experience with As-Built drawings and linear referencing is a plus.

    + Ideal internship/professional experience would be from a municipal or utility, involving GIS data editing, data analysis, or modifying existing features.

    Work Environment

    This is a hybrid position requiring in-office presence Monday through Thursday, with Fridays remote. The work setting is a cubicle-style environment with a team of approximately 40 GIS employees. Core business hours are 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and employees must be in by 9 AM at the latest. Overtime is on an as-needed basis at the employee's discretion at the beginning of each week. The position involves working 40 hours a week, with flexibility as long as work hours are consistent.

    This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
