Job Title: JR Continuous Improvement Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Continuous Improvement Engineer who will focus on cost planning for new business ventures. This role emphasizes technical thinking over managing entire projects, with a goal to develop long-term strategies for improvement. The ideal candidate will have a Continuous Improvement mindset rather than a project capital expenditure perspective.
THIS ROLE REQUIRES 1-5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE- IF INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE HAVE TO HAVE ONE YEAR OF FULL TIME WORK EXPERIENCE.
Responsibilities
+ Lead daily evaluations of equipment performance and line flow to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and ensure processes align with Lean manufacturing principles.
+ Coach, mentor, and train team members to build Continuous Improvement capabilities, fostering a culture of problem-solving, ownership, and daily improvement.
+ Use structured problem-solving tools such as PDCA, 5 Why, and Root Cause Analysis to resolve downtime, quality, and safety concerns, prioritizing issues based on impact and ensuring countermeasures are implemented and sustained.
+ Facilitate team problem-solving by guiding frontline teams through PDCA cycles, helping them identify concerns, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
+ Review daily performance metrics, identify trends, and drive actions to improve outflow, quality, safety, and equipment reliability. Ensure KPIs are visible, accurate, and used for decision-making.
+ Manage and execute improvement projects aligned with the business plan, new model launches, and process innovation, ensuring outcomes improve productivity, efficiency, and stability.
+ Continuously assess manpower, structure, and budget requirements to ensure operational effectiveness. Use capacity analysis and standard work to achieve optimal resource utilization.
+ Collaborate on business strategy development, advocating for process improvements, new technologies, and automation opportunities, ensuring frontline insights drive long-term operational improvements.
Essential Skills
+ Expertise in industrial engineering
+ Proficiency in Lean manufacturing
+ Experience in budget analysis
+ Strong skills in continuous improvement and kaizen events
+ Ability to conduct cost analysis and budgeting
+ B S- ENGINEERING
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Proficiency in Value Stream Mapping
+ Experience with Cost Analysis
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burlington, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
