Job Description
We are actively seeking a Structural Engineer II to join our team in the Irvine office to support our growing project workloads. This mid-level role is focused on structural design reviews and analysis for a variety of projects, including new and existing buildings, industrial manufacturing supports, and pipe racks. The Engineer II will execute scoped engineering tasks under senior oversight, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Responsibilities
+ Perform structural engineering analysis and design for new and existing structures, including multi-story buildings, pipe racks, and industrial supports.
+ Apply statics, dynamics, and load path principles in structural calculations.
+ Prepare technical deliverables such as reports, calculation packages, and presentations.
+ Conduct field surveys as directed by senior staff, clarifying scope and documenting findings.
+ Create detailed 3D computer models for complex structures using ETABS (preferred), RISA, or SAP2000.
+ Review plans for compliance with IBC, CBC, ASCE 7, and material standards such as AISC, ACI, NDS, and TMS.
+ Collaborate with senior engineers and participate in client meetings.
+ Track and report project hours accurately, assisting with workload estimates and budgets.
Essential Skills
+ Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals, including statics, dynamics, and load paths.
+ Proficiency in ETABS (preferred), SAP2000, and RISA, with familiarity in RAM and MathCAD.
+ Knowledge of IBC, CBC, ASCE 7 codes and material standards such as AISC, ACI, NDS, and TMS.
+ Ability to prepare calculation packages using MathCAD or Excel-based tools.
+ Strong communication skills for internal collaboration and client interaction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
+ 2–4 years of experience (or 1–2 years with advanced qualifications); EIT required.
+ Experience with Southern California structural project types is a plus.
+ Experience on small engineering teams and balancing production-level tasks under senior oversight.
+ Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD for plan markups and coordination.
+ Seismic retrofit experience (NPC-5 exposure is a plus, not required).
Work Environment
The position is office-based with hybrid flexibility, allowing for remote work as long as work is completed. Typical work hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, with the expectation of coming into the office twice a week. The team is small and collaborative, consisting of three primary engineers and consultants. The culture emphasizes professional attributes such as reliability, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple assignments. Field visits may occasionally be required, typically paired with a senior engineer.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $40.00/hr.
