    Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description

     

    The Controls Engineer will be responsible for driving the design, functionality, and testing of upper-level automated sortation systems. This role requires leading and assisting in the design and programming of new projects, as well as diagnosing and solving control-related issues involving I/O, hardware, and software. Leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior engineers are essential aspects of this position.

    Responsibilities

    + Write and implement modular and reusable PLC code and assist in all on-site controls engineering tasks.

    + Design and develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) using products like Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk View, or FactoryTalk Optix.

    + Implement PLC and HMI programs to meet current design and customer specifications.

    + Collaborate with internal employees, customer representatives, and third-party vendors to ensure comprehensive project consideration during design and execution phases.

    + Review electrical designs and provide accurate as-built drawings for approval.

    + Commission and troubleshoot complex automated systems, provide site engineering support, and complete system acceptance testing.

    + Support system commissioning efforts.

    Essential Skills

    + 4+ years of experience in Controls Engineering.

    + Proficiency in PLC Programming, specifically with Rockwell.

    + Experience in HMI Programming using FactoryTalk View and Wonderware.

    + Skills in I/O device design, implementation, and troubleshooting.

    + Understanding of VFD's, with networked experience highly preferred.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Electrical Engineering Technology (BSEET).

    Work Environment

    The role involves working onsite at facilities when traveling and working from home when not traveling. Typical workweeks are 45 hours at home and 50+ hours when traveling, with a schedule of 10 days on and 4 days off. Opportunities for growth are available in the long term, with the flexibility to work remotely and travel from a home base.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Washington, KY.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $57.69 - $62.50/hr.
