Maintenance Mechanic
About the Company
We are the leading wire manufacturer in the western United States, supplying products to industries ranging from agriculture and construction to transportation, communications, and general manufacturing. Our Kent, WA facility is currently looking for an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to help support the reliability and performance of our production equipment.
Position Overview
This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving a wide variety of industrial machinery. You’ll work hands-on with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and low-voltage electrical systems while supporting a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform installation, repair, alignment, fabrication, and removal of industrial machinery and equipment.
+ Rebuild gearboxes and diagnose issues involving cams, pulleys, bearings, sprockets, bushings, and other mechanical components.
+ Develop and implement repair plans to prevent downtime and extend equipment life.
+ Work closely with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot machine failures and identify root causes.
+ Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
+ Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems including motors, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and related components.
+ Apply low-voltage electrical knowledge and perform basic welding (stick welding) and torch cutting when needed.
+ Tear down equipment to access damaged parts and determine required repairs or replacements.
+ Inspect worn components and measure for dimensional accuracy to ensure proper fit.
+ Adjust mechanisms, controls, and machine components for optimal performance.
+ Clean, reassemble, and test machinery after repairs.
+ Utilize proper rigging techniques to safely move heavy machinery or parts.
+ Design and fabricate replacement components or new equipment as required.
Required Skills & Experience
+ Prior experience in maintenance mechanics or industrial equipment repair.
+ Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
+ Working knowledge of gearboxes, bearings, pulleys, and PLC-involved equipment.
+ Capability to safely lift up to 75 lbs.
+ Experience working in a mill or similar industrial environment is preferred.
+ Must be 18 years or older.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Strong mechanical aptitude in gearbox rebuilding and component failure analysis.
+ Hands-on experience with hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting/repair.
+ Understanding of low-voltage electrical systems.
+ Skilled in stick welding, torch cutting, and basic fabrication.

Work Environment
This role operates in a large wire production facility with active industrial machinery. The manufacturing process involves galvanized wire, which produces a noticeable odor and occasional haze in the air—both routinely monitored for safety. Temperatures fluctuate with the seasons, with warmer conditions in summer and cooler conditions in winter.
Available Shifts:
+ **1st Shift:** 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
+ **2nd Shift:** 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
+ **3rd Shift:** 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Kent, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $72000.00/yr.
