Job Description

This role involves conducting tests on the viscosity, salt content, and color of salad dressings, performing allergen environmental swabs, and ensuring that batches meet specifications. The technician will document results in the program and communicate effectively with supervisors and managers.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct wet chemistry testing on samples.

+ Perform allergen testing and environmental swabs.

+ Handle raw materials and manage product specifications and holds.

+ Enter data into food safety programs and databases.

+ Generate end-of-shift reports.

+ Collaborate with team members and work independently as needed.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in a science discipline or equivalent experience in food manufacturing quality labs.

+ Two years of experience in food manufacturing is ideal, but new graduates in chemistry are encouraged to apply.

+ Proficiency in wet chemistry techniques.

+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

+ Effective communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Flexibility to train on the first shift for three weeks.

+ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment

The position is based in a food manufacturing facility that produces salad dressings, mustards, and similar products. Work is primarily on the third shift, running from 10 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday to Friday, with an expectation to work Saturdays 2-3 times a month depending on production needs. Training will occur on the first shift for the first three weeks. The facility promotes a close-knit, small-company feel with direct communication between employees and management. The company is undergoing rebranding to better represent its premium product range, focusing on quality and organic offerings. The Manteno location is poised for growth, promising stability and advancement opportunities for employees.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manteno, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
