    The Office of Judicial Administration is responsible for the efficient administration of all agencies that operate under the direction of the Chief Justice and the Supreme Court. That includes 200 personnel; fiscal management; communication; technology; legal services; intergovernmental relations; services for the trial courts; and support for court boards, commissions, and committees. The Office is headed by Interim Chief Administrative Officer Aaron Hood, who reports directly to the Chief Justice of Indiana and serves as the link between the Chief Justice and the agencies of the Court.

     

    Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800 but may be commensurate with education and/or experience.

    About the Job:

    This position serves as Interstate Compact Specialist within the Indiana Office of Court Services, in the division of Justice Services. This position processes documentation, communications, and the interstate process for adult and juvenile supervised individuals who request a transfer to reside in another state.

     

    A Day in the Life:

     

    Specialists will process transfer requests and compact activities through the Adult and Juvenile Tracking Systems. This position promotes public safety by providing effective surveillance strategies for supervised individuals across state lines. This position follows compliance and enforcement of Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision (ICAOS) and Interstate Commission for Juveniles (ICJ). In addition, this position serves as a liaison between Indiana’s community supervision staff of each county, and the respective Compact Office for the state in which the supervised individual has requested to reside. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:

     

    • Process interstate compact correspondence; travel permits, transfer requests/responses, violation reports/responses, closure notices/responses, progress reports, and reporting instructions requests/replies.

    • Maintain updated electronic and written records using the Adult and Juvenile Tracking Systems.

    • Serve as a liaison providing assistance to Indiana county level community supervision staff and Compact staff representing other states.

    • Monitor time sensitive deadlines, run audit reports, and ensure compliance.

    • Proofread documents for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.

    • Prepare local counties for National Commission audits; advise counties of overdue documentation.

    • Prepare and conduct Interstate Compact training for Indiana community supervision staff.

    • Serve as a mediator between Indiana and commission states, to resolve issues concerning a specific case and/or interpretation of rules.

    • Serve as a subject matter expert for state compact agencies and local community supervision staff.

    • Cross train on the coordination of the return of Juvenile Runaways and Absconders.

    • Attend web-based training for adult and juvenile compacts and state council meetings.

    • Assist Parole Interstate Compact staff, as needed.

    • Additional duties as assigned.

    • Act as a liaison when interacting with management, staff, internal and external stakeholders to provide program specific information, answer questions, and address issues/problems raised

    • Successfully diffuse elevated conversations and manage conflict resolution

    Technology and Tool Usage

    • Learn and adapt to new technologies within the Microsoft Suite as well as Supreme Court systems
