Job Title: 2nd Shift Operator Apprentice

Job Description

Join our team as a 2nd Shift Header Operator Apprentice, where you will work with Formax Headers, a type of cold forming machine renowned for producing high-quality fasteners and parts with precision and speed. This role requires operating equipment, performing complex machine setups, and ensuring efficient and safe operations.

Responsibilities

+ Operate equipment and perform complex machine setups safely and efficiently.

+ Adjust and operate equipment as trained.

+ Determine necessary tooling adjustments to maintain proper setups on multiple header sizes and types.

+ Read and interpret blueprints.

+ Use gauges and other quality tools to ensure the production of high-quality parts.

+ Perform first piece inspections and monitor the quality of all parts.

+ Make adjustments to maintain quality standards.

+ Perform minor preventative maintenance and complete all required tracking documents.

+ Record data for SPC, ISO/IATF documentation.

Essential Skills

+ At least 1 year of machining experience, manual or automatic.

+ Blueprint reading experience.

+ Proficiency with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

+ Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ GED or high school diploma is a plus.

+ Experience running Formax Header machines.

+ Experience in automotive mechanics or similar fields.

Work Environment

Work in a noisy and loud facility mainly focused on automotive fasteners, with some exposure to aerospace, construction, and commercial industries. This is a 2nd shift position from 3pm to 11:30pm, with training on the 1st shift. The facility can be hot in the summer, and you will need to wear PPE such as ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes. Dress code includes clothing suitable for a dirty environment, with company-provided shirts.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belvidere, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
