We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate to join the Accounting team at Nightwing. The successful candidate will lead the General Ledger team by overseeing daily accounting operations, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Additionally, this individual will partner with the Accounting Support Center, Government Accounting, and Treasury groups and across the business to support accurate and timely financial reporting.
The ideal candidate is detail oriented and possesses excellent analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to manage a team in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Deltek Costpoint is required, and Government Contractor industry experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
You will oversee Nightwing’s accounting activities including day-to-day accounting operations, month-end, and year-end close. Your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Accounting Operations
+ Oversee daily accounting functions including general ledger management, account reconciliations, and the preparation and review of journal entries to ensure all transactions are timely and accurately recorded in accordance with US GAAP.
+ Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process including providing accounting and reporting guidelines to the Company’s business units and assisting with the preparation and analysis of the Company’s financial statements.
+ Manage the examination and investigation of general ledger accounts to confirm balances, including issue identification and resolution.
+ Manage data compilation and analysis to support internal reporting to Nightwing leadership and other ad-hoc analyses to management.
+ Interface with external auditors and outsourced tax service providers to oversee the preparation of financial statements, footnote disclosures, and tax reporting requirements.
2. Operational Excellence
+ **Internal Controls & Integrity:** Maintain evidence of, perform, and continuously improve upon a robust set of internal controls and processes to ensure the integrity of financial data.
+ **Documentation of Processes:** Ensure accounting and reporting is performed in accordance with corporate policies and procedures. Identify process gaps and prepare work instructions to document accounting and reporting practices performed.
+ **Process Improvement:** Identify process improvement opportunities and lead change initiatives across accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
+ **Cross-Functional Partnership:** Communicate, collaborate and interface with the Company’s business units and various functional areas including Enterprise Applications, Accounting Support Center, Government Accounting, and Treasury groups to investigate and resolve issues identified and ensure transactions with an accounting impact are identified and properly recorded.
3. Leadership & Team Development
+ **Inspire and Develop:** Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing, results-oriented accounting team, fostering professional growth and active engagement with the business.
+ **Stakeholder Engagement:** Build and maintain effective professional relationships with internal customers, external partners, and senior executive leadership, acting as an accounting expert on various projects and ad-hoc analysis.
What You'll Bring: Required Qualifications
+ **Education & Experience:** Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with at least **8+ years** of progressive professional experience in financial reporting and accounting leadership, **OR** a minimum of 15+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree. _A master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of professional experience._
+ **Government Contracting Expertise:** Experience with Deltek Costpoint and operating within a government contracting environment are significant advantages.
+ **Certification:** Active CPA license is mandatory.
+ **Technical Mastery:** Proficient in US GAAP, including practical and theoretical application.
+ **Citizenship:** US Citizenship is required.
