Folder Gluer Operator Trainee
Safety
Ensure all safety procedures are followed at all times. Hold employees accountable for working within established rules and for proactively identifying and removing hazards. Immediately report all near misses, incidents, first aid cases, and unsafe working conditions to the Plant Manager and Safety Manager without exception. Model and reinforce safe work practices within the assigned area of responsibility. Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA regulations and plant safety standards. Maintain responsibility for the safety and well-being of self and assigned employees.
Production
Safety always takes priority over production. Learn how to manage crew assignments on the machine, including rotations and breaks. Work in conjunction with the Gluer Operator to support management of packers, feeders, and belt personnel. Learn and assist with machine make-ready activities. Read and understand job jackets to verify job-specific requirements and collect customer job samples when required. Participate in achieving production goals related to waste, output, and make-readies. Assist the operator to ensure DMS checklists and documentation are completed accurately and on time. Inspect products for non-conforming conditions including glue issues, folds, scoring, cutting, and print quality. Learn and assist the operator with setting up proper delivery for each job, configuring the Leary system for glue detection, completing daily production reports, and setting up code printers. Learn and assist with troubleshooting gluers, Leary systems, and other applicable production equipment as needed. Maintain responsibility for product safety and quality and report any concerns to Senior Management or the Quality Manager.
Quality
Assist the Gluer Operator in maintaining excellent product quality. Ensure adherence to established control plans. Perform Leary system challenges as required. Follow proper procedures for rejecting raw materials. Ensure correct procedures are followed when evaluating, rejecting, or approving questionable product produced by the machine.
Maintenance
Assist with machine maintenance activities as needed.
Housekeeping
Assist with housekeeping of the machine and surrounding work area. Maintain cleanliness of equipment within the assigned area of responsibility.
Machinery
Assist with performing preventative maintenance in accordance with scheduled Zone PM requirements.
Performance Excellence
Actively participate in applicable performance excellence and continuous improvement activities.
Additional Responsibility
Serve as backup to the Gluer Operator as required.
