Job Description

Under the direction of a qualified Dialysis RN and in accordance with approved policies, procedures and standards, the Dialysis Patient Care Techperforms tasks and responsibilities associated with the direct care needs for patients over the age of 18. The Dialysis Patient Care Technician is knowledgeable in the cause and effect of renal disease and in the procedure of hemodialysis.The DPCT gathers pertinent clinical information and communicates observations to the RN for evaluation. The PCT is responsible for the initiation, monitoring and discontinuance of the dialysis treatment, including:Cannulation of fistula and grafts, Drawing of blood samples as orderUnder the direction of a qualified Dialysis RN and in accordance with approved policies, procedures and standards, the Dialysis Patient Care Techperforms tasks and responsibilities associated with the direct care needs for patients over the age of 18.
