    School Counselor / School Mental Health Worker – High School

     

    Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week

     

    Bell Schedule: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

     

    Start Date: ASAP (flexible for future start dates)

     

    Contract Length: Through 5/21, with potential extension into the 26–27 school year

    Position Overview

    Amergis Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor/School Mental Health Worker to provide individual and group counseling to students in grades 9–12. The counselor will support students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges by helping them develop coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and enhance overall mental well-being.

     

    This role works collaboratively with families, teachers, administrators, and community partners to create a safe, supportive school environment and ensure students have access to appropriate mental health resources. The counselor will have autonomy in scheduling and will work within the Student Services suite, reporting directly to the Principal.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Provide individual and group counseling to high school students.

    + Support students with emotional, social, and behavioral needs.

    + Develop and implement coping strategies and wellness plans.

    + Collaborate with families, teachers, and school staff to support student success.

    + Facilitate referrals to community-based mental health services when necessary.

    + Contribute to school-wide mental health programs and initiatives.

    + Maintain compliance with professional standards and documentation requirements.

    + Participate in meetings with school leadership, including the EC Director and Principal.

    Minimum Requirements

    + Master’s Degree in Counseling (required)

    + Some flexibility in licensure based on state, contract, or facility regulations

    + Degree must align with one of the following: Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Addictions, Human Development, or related field

    + Must meet all applicable federal, state, and local requirements

    + CPR certification (if required by contract)

    + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)

    + Current health certificate (if required)

    + At least 18 years of age

    + Preferred: Experience in school settings or working with adolescents and families
