Job Title
Chief of Staff, Technical Programs & Strategy
What does a successful Chief of Staff, Technical Programs & Strategy do at Fiserv?
A successful Chief of Staff, Technical Programs & Strategy at Fiserv will partner closely with the Head of Engineering (CTO) and the leadership team as a force‑multiplier—turning strategic priorities into predictable execution, removing organizational friction, and enabling engineering teams to deliver high‑impact results. You combine technical credibility with program and people leadership to drive outcomes across complex, cross‑functional initiatives.
What you will do:
+ Translate executive strategy into actionable roadmaps, OKRs and quarterly objectives for engineering and product; own program rollout, prioritize initiatives and drive follow‑through to measurable outcomes.
+ Lead high‑visibility technical programs end‑to‑end: plan milestones, manage scope and interdependencies, surface and mitigate risks, and remove cross‑team blockers to ensure on‑time, on‑scope delivery.
+ Design and scale engineering operations and governance (release, incident, design‑review, CI/CD): define and track KPIs for quality, velocity and reliability, run retrospectives and continuous‑improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time and increase reliability.
+ Serve as the primary integrator and communicator across engineering, product, go‑to‑market and executive stakeholders: prepare concise executive briefings, status reports and board materials; facilitate architecture, security and compliance reviews to maintain standards and alignment.
+ Drive resource and capacity decisions and manage external partnerships: lead headcount prioritization, contractor/vendor and budget trade‑offs; manage strategic vendor and cloud provider relationships, negotiate SLAs, and advise on organizational design, career paths, onboarding and leadership development.
What you will need to have:
+ 20+ years of professional experience in technology, engineering or related fields.
+ 5+ years of demonstrated experience driving cross‑functional strategy execution and leading complex technical programs end‑to‑end.
+ Proven, metrics‑driven impact across three core domains—engineering processes, delivery performance and incident management—with hands‑on experience in three operational areas: resource/capacity planning, vendor management and organizational design; strong technical literacy to engage with architects on architecture, security and operations.
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred; advanced degree a plus.
What would be great to have:
+ Inclusive engineering leader with a track record of measurable people outcomes — e.g., improved retention or engagement by ~10–25% within 12–18 months and experience scaling team headcount while improving diversity representation.
+ Strategic operator who drives measurable delivery results — e.g., has led 3–7 cross‑functional technical programs per year and delivered ≥80% of program milestones on schedule while translating priorities into quarterly OKRs.
+ Deep technical enabler with measurable operational impact — e.g., led architecture/security/CI‑CD initiatives that reduced cycle time or MTTR by ~20–40% and mentored 10+ engineers; advanced technical degree is a plus.
