Job Overview:
NYRA TV is seeking a technically capable Audio Assistant (A2) to support live studio and simulcast productions. This is a hands-on broadcast role in fast-paced, mission-critical environments. This position will be based on out wherever track live racing is occurring. Ability to travel to Belmont, Aqueduct and Saratoga is essential.
Essential Functions:
Primary Responsibilities Oversee audio-related setup, support, and strike for live studio and simulcast productions Set up and maintain audio systems for daily NYRA TV broadcasts Mic and support on-air talent using wired and wireless systems Manage IFB and production communications using RTS KP panels and AZedit Support and troubleshoot Dante-based audio networks Troubleshoot audio issues in real time during live production Store, maintain, and inventory audio equipment Coordinate repair and servicing of damaged or malfunctioning equipment
Qualifications:
Must have working knowledge of Dante networks
Strong understanding of signal flow and broadcast routing
Knowledge of RTS intercom systems, KP panels, ipedit and Azedit software
Experience with wired and wireless microphone systems
Strong understanding of networking
Familiarity with STUDER audio consoles a plus
Skills Proficiency:
Audio Systems & signal flow
Intermediate – Able to understand, trace and troubleshoot signal paths in a broadcast environment
Dante Audio Network
Intermediate – able to configure devices, verify clocking, subscriptions, diagnose common network/audio issues
Intercom & IFB system (RTS)
Intermediate - knowledge of RTS KP panels and IFB and production comms
Microphone Systems
Intermediate – able to deploy, troubleshoot and maintain broadcast systems
Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This position requires the ability to work in fast-paced broadcast environments, including studios and control rooms, with prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating technical equipment. The role involves lifting and moving audio gear, running cables, wearing headsets, and performing repetitive tasks while maintaining focus during live productions. Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with exposure to elevated noise levels and time-sensitive, high-pressure conditions.
