Job Description

NYC Parks is the steward of more 30,000 acres of land – 14 percent of New York City – including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets. We operate more than 800 athletic fields and nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 1,800 basketball courts, 550 tennis courts, 65 public pools, 51 recreational facilities, 15 nature centers, 14 golf courses and 14 miles of beaches. Major Responsibilities
- Perform administrative tasks to support the Commissioner of NYC Parks and the Commissioner’s Chief of Staff.
- Assist with Commissioner’s correspondence totaling over 15,000 incoming requests per year.
- Scan and track incoming mail and route to appropriate divisions for response accordingly and follow up as needed.
- Follow Agency customer service standards for answering and returning phone calls and interacting with park patrons.
- Manage confidential information.
- Assist the Chief of Staff and correspondence team with special projects as needed.
- Data Entry; route correspondence through IQ database.
- Prepare reports for the Commissioner or NYC Parks and the Commissioner’s Chief of Staff.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
