    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated Engineering Technician to join our team in a dynamic role that involves serving as a landfill construction quality assurance (CQA) and construction technician.

     

    This is a full-time travel role with most work conducted in Ohio. You may be required to stay overnight in hotels depending on the project location. The job involves working on landfill projects for construction quality assurance. The role offers a $45/day per diem, company vehicle, and paid hotel stays. The landfill industry is recession-proof, ensuring consistent work availability. There are lots of working hours available during peak seasons (spring/summer/fall).

    Responsibilities

    + Monitor and document construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities, including field inspection and testing of soils and geosynthetic liners.

    + Ensure compliance with all applicable project specifications and construction drawings.

    + Supervise and complete construction quality assurance and control activities across several states.

    + Conduct field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.

    + Communicate effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, and contractor representatives regarding construction site requirements and testing results.

    + Transport material samples with identifying documentation to laboratories for further testing.

    + Prepare and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal.

    + Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas while adhering to strict safety standards.

    + Assist with basic testing and observation duties under close supervision.

    + Provide clear documentation of findings and results and communicate them to the Project Manager.

    + Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.

    + Assume progressively increased roles of training and responsibility in work assignments.

    + Follow safety rules, practices, and other safety requirements for all projects.

    + Perform pre-task planning before executing work and report any safety issues or concerns.

    + Maintain quality standards on all projects.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience in construction, engineering, materials testing, soil testing, construction inspection, and civil engineering.

    + Ability to use a nuclear density gauge.

    + Ability and willingness to travel full-time and stay in hotels as required.

    + Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Degree in geology, construction, engineering, or related field; OR relevant construction or soil experience.

    + Construction experience preferred.

    + Soil sampling/testing experience is a plus.

    + Ability to travel across Ohio and surrounding states.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
