Position Overview
The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality educational services to students with moderate to severe disabilities in a K–12 setting. This role requires a strong commitment to collaborative planning, individualized instruction, and active participation in a multidisciplinary educational team.
The Special Education Teacher supports student success through specialized instruction, tutorial assistance, and ongoing consultation with general education staff to ensure compliance with each student’s IEP and district expectations.
Key Responsibilities
+ Deliver specialized instruction and support to students with moderate to severe needs
+ Implement IEP goals and accommodations with fidelity
+ Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff
+ Participate in team planning, progress monitoring, and student program implementation
+ Provide consultation and instructional support as needed
+ Maintain compliant documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
+ Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations
+ Minimum one (1) year teaching experience preferred
+ State Teacher Certification (preferred):
+ Standard Elementary Teaching
+ Standard Secondary Teaching
+ Standard Special Teaching
+ Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
+ Compliance with all professional standards of practice
+ CPR certification (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
Additional Notes
+ Moderate to Severe SPED classroom
+ 30+ hours per week, with schedule details provided during interview
