What You’ll Do
As a Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician, you’ll work from an Ohio CAT service truck in the natural elements, traveling frequently to Ohio CAT locations and customer sites. You’ll troubleshoot and safely repair Caterpillar heavy equipment, including drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems, and perform general machine repairs. This role requires flexibility, technical expertise, and a commitment to learning new skills and information.
Your responsibilities will include:
+ Diagnosing and repairing Caterpillar heavy equipment systems and components.
+ Performing electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs.
+ Completing manufacturer updates and ensuring compliance with technical standards.
+ Working independently in field conditions while adhering to safety protocols.
+ Maintaining accurate service documentation and communicating effectively with customers and team members.
What We’re Looking For
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and technical service skills.
+ Knowledge of DC electrical systems and machine electronics.
+ Ability to follow technical material and apply processes and procedures.
+ Organized, self-motivated, and able to work without direct supervision.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Strong computer and software proficiency.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED required.
+ College or continued education in a technical field is a plus.
+ Experience in construction or power equipment service and repair required.
+ Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record (4 or fewer moving violation points).
+ Availability for on-call work as business needs require.

Physical Requirements
+ Lifting/Carrying: 40 lb. lift/carry and 50 lb. pulling
+ Repetitive Motions: Frequent movements requiring hands, wrists, and fingers
+ Dexterity: Normal
+ Frequent standing/sitting and climbing stairs
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
+ Noise Level: Quiet in office settings; moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible
